About My Body, God's Gift Milestone
Sexuality is God’s good gift to humankind.
As children mature physically, this is a time to partner home and congregation to make sure that the children we love have good information, clear and consistent values, and support to be moral. It is important to reclaim sexuality from the media and industries that exploit, demean or misuse it in our culture.
During this milestone, the goal is to give upper elementary-aged children an understanding of what they will soon experience as they continue to grow and mature, along with some “tools” to make healthy choices; to equip parents to take a leadership role in the home related to issues of sexuality; and to open communication between parents and children about these vitally important and challenging topics related to sexuality.

Why this Milestone?
This Bible Milestone incorporates a simple structure that includes:
- Naming – It is important to recognize the value of learning about sexuality and its relationship to faith at an early age in a safe and caring environment.
- Equipping – The congregation provides resources for communication about human sexuality between children and parents in a way that emphasizes a vital relationship to faith and values.
- Blessing – The blessing for those participating in this milestone offers reinforcement for parents and children from the congregation and serves as a reminder they are a gift to the congregation and God's world.
- Gifting – You may give a visible item as a physical reminder of this time together and as a tool to provide venues for faith conversations in the home.
- Reinforcing – Follow up after the My Body, God's Gift Milestone by connecting this group one more time to talk about the progress of their faith talk at home.
