Overview of Galatians
The young Christians in Galatia got off to a good start. They understood that Jesus died on the cross to make them right with God. They learned that forgiveness couldn't be earned by being good but was a gift of God's grace. It was an underserved kindness from God.

But now the Galatians were all mixed up. Paul accused them off following "another gospel" (Gal 1:6), which could never make them right with God. Paul taught that people are made right with God by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ, not through the good things they do. Paul reminded the Galatians that God's gift of forgiveness is freely given to people who believe in Jesus.

Paul was sad because the Galatians had forgotten the real Jesus, He told them that they would grow as Christians by relying on God's Spirit (Gal 5:16-26). Jesus not only makes us right with God, but God's Spirit works inside us so we want to follow God's ways. God changes us into people who are loving, joyful, and kind. Galatians shows us the real way to become more like Jesus!

Bible Readings
Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) Reading
Paul wrote letters to the followers of Jesus who lived in a town called Galatia. Oa told the Galatians, "We are like a tree that grows fruit. But our fruit is not the kind of fruit we eat. It's not apples and bananas and pears."

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are ways we feel and act. When we hug someone, we're showing love. When we wait our turn, we're showing patience. When we use nice words, we're being kind. When we pray, we're being faithful."

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These aren't fruits we eat; they're fruit of the Spirit!"

Each Sunday there will be a class addressing the reading for that week. The classes will engage the particular Bible book for that week, paying specific attention to a theme or topic. These classes are hybrid and will meet each Sunday, in-person (EM307/308) and on Zoom, at 10:05am. The Zoom link is at the bottom of this email and is the same for each week.
