How your family can honor the “Longest Night,” the Winter Solstice
For the Longest Night for kids, simply light a candle and explain this is the day (between Dec 20-22) of the year when there is the least amount of sunshine and the most shadow. And that it’s good to really honour that and mark it. It creates space for kids and parents to know it’s OK to have the full range of emotions even during the Christmas season. The candle is a tangible reminder that the longest night doesn’t last forever: From here on, the days will get longer and the nights shorter.

Reading Through the Bible in 2022
Gathering Together Around God’s Word: A Worship and Learning Opportunity PCPC will be reading through the entire Bible in 2022 as a congregation! Over the course of 12 months, we will read each book of the Old and New Testament and gain a better understanding of God’s continuing relationship with humanity. The full reading plan is being mailed to your homes this week or you may pick one up at the church office.
Week 1 (Jan. 1-7): Read Genesis 1-25 and Psalms 1-3. For those reading with children read the Creation, Noah, Abraham and Sarah, and Jacob and Esau stories from a children’s storybook bible.
Week 2 (Jan. 8-15): Read Genesis 26-50 and Psalms 4-6. Read the Joseph stories from a children’s storybook bible with children.
