How Many Miles to Bethlehem?
Since we are trying to safely space families out, we are providing three opportunities to make your journey through to Bethlehem. Outside, facing the streets surrounding the church grounds, we will have seven spaced out live nativity areas focusing on different parts of the journey. We will have live animals as well. Safely make the journey with your family in your vehicle or on foot. You will begin the journey slowly entering the parking lot from Himes Ave, where you will receive a map. Your journey will end in front of the sanctuary for hot cocoa.
Please click on one of the options to sign up.
How Many Miles to Bethlehem? A Living Nativity:
Welcome on the long road to Bethlehem. We are so glad we can make this journey together especially in these uncertain times.
Drive-Thru: If you feel comfortable, please roll down your windows a bit & turn the sound up so the actors can also hear the narration as well and "react" to the play.
Wanderers, we ask you to wear your masks during the Journey to Bethlehem. We know you may want to connect with old friends and even make new ones on this Journey to Bethlehem. To be abundantly cautious, we ask if you would like to catch up with each other, to please refrain from chatting between families until the end of the journey. Space is provided for safe distanced fellowship in the open area in front of the beverage station.

Who is mary?
|
This Sunday at 10:00 am, we will be exploring "Who Is Mary?" from the scriptural perspective of the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. I invite you to read the first and second chapters of both gospels in preparation for the class. Consider what each of the authors says, implicitly or explicitly, about Mary. Maybe jot a few notes as you read so we can share and discuss together what we see and hear from the texts.
Simply email Nicole to get on the zoom list each week - [email protected] |

Light a candle for Christmas Eve
A beloved tradition of Christmas Eve worship is the candle lighting. As we continue worshipping with most of our participants worshipping virtually, we are seeking to create some connectivity of that moment. If you're willing and able to assist us we would be grateful. If this stresses you out -- simply delete this email and know that others can do this simply.
What you'll need is a candle -- whatever you have at home will work and a way to record.
Please follow these simple instructions in order to help us create the effect of passing the virtual light. Attached is an example...I just filmed this so it is in the light of day...for a Christmas Eve effect you may want to record your clip more towards the evening.
Virtual Candle Lighting Instructions:
* Film horizontally
* Begin with the lit candle out of frame to the candleholders right.
*Slowly move the candle from out of frame to the right to out of frame to the left - pausing for a second with the lit candle in front of you.
*Look at the light as this is filmed (Note: this isn't intuitive. The first time I looked at the camera and not only does it look goofy but would have been dangerous should I actually have been passing a candle flame!)
*If there are multiple members of your family you may be in the same video with the end people beginning and ending with the lit candle out of frame. As you pass the light to the members of your family holding unlit candles remember the unlit candle is tilted to take the flame from the lit candle.
*Text or email candlelighting clips to Beth DeBevoise [email protected] by Friday, December 18th.
