sunday after ascension day texts

Acts 1:1-11  • Psalm 47 or Psalm 93  • Ephesians 1:15-23  • Luke 24:44-53

Luke 24:44-53
24:44 Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you--that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled."
24:45 Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,
24:46 and he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day,
24:47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
24:48 You are witnesses of these things.
24:49 And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
24:50 Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them.
24:51 While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven.
24:52 And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy;
24:53 and they were continually in the temple blessing God.

seventh Sunday OF EASTER

Acts 1:15-17, 21-26
  • Psalm 1  • 1 John 5:9-13  • John 17:6-19

John 17:6-19
17:6 "I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
17:7 Now they know that everything you have given me is from you;
17:8 for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.
17:9 I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those whom you gave me, because they are yours.
17:10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them.
17:11 And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.
17:12 While I was with them, I protected them in your name that you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined to be lost, so that the scripture might be fulfilled.
17:13 But now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves.
17:14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.
17:15 I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one.
17:16 They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.
17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
17:18 As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.

PRAYground is Open Every Sunday

PRAYground last Sunday

The outside PRAYground will be open through May during the 9:00 and 11:00 am worship services for all ages outside in the courtyard under the shade.
Last Sunday, Pastor John challenged the kids to pray for our friends - we wondered together through reading stories & prayers about Love and writing letters of why we love our friends. Just like the hymn says, “They will know we are Christians by our Love!”, we will practice love so that our thoughts & prayers are genuine with a focus on love towards others.
VBS Registration is Open! Click the picture below to explore the Sea of Galilee.

Everyone is invited to the Courtyard on Sunday, May 16th at 10:00 am - 11:00 am to express appreciation for all that Nancy Creedon and Kelly McCord have given to our faith community. Click the image to read their messages.

Message from Lindsey Gabler:

"I’m a second-year student at University of Georgia and I've worked in Palma Ceia’s Nursery for the last five years. In my free time I like to spend time with my friends or play lacrosse. I also enjoy reading and watching movies with my family. Working with kids is so much fun as they’re always energetic and creative. I enjoy playing with them and being silly. Children make me laugh! When the children are tired, I like to read books to them. Working in the nursery exposes me to many different kids and I feel as though I learn something new every day! I’m looking forward to being back with the children of Palma Ceia this Summer!"

Message from Janae Gipson:

"I have always loved working and being around children. I volunteered for four years at St. Paul’s Catholic Church nursery every Sunday. I volunteer weekly at Gigi’s Playhouse, a Downs Syndrome Achievement Center and at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary. I really enjoy children and believe that they make the world so much better. Although I have the most experience with nannying and babysitting with children of all ages, I prefer to work with infants and babies under two years. I’ve just graduated from Brooks-Debartolo Collegiate High School in Tampa and am entering Hillsborough Community College in the fall in Child Development. I am CPR and first aid certified. I’m looking forward to spending time with the children at Palma Ceia."

Justice Seekers, get ready for some FUN at the end-of-year party May 16th! Note the time change that day -- the fun starts at 3PM!
