Food Delivery Needed
Can you deliver bags of food for End 68 Hours of Hunger for a few hours on just one day? They are currently delivering to 158 family homes in the underserved neighborhoods around Hillsborough County. Each delivery route has six - eight homes and takes about 1 hour to complete. The deliveries are made on the next two Thursdays and Fridays and the bags are picked up at the pantry at Hyde Park Presbyterian Church. Pick-up is 10:00 - 10:30 on Thursdays and 9:00 - 10:30 on Fridays. Simply click this button and say you can help one day either on Aug 20th or 21st. Allison is helping on Friday, Aug 21st if anyone else wants to join. |
Secret Pals with Another Church
PCPC and 34th St Church of God (historically black congregation, led by Bishop Tom Scott) have participated in joint dinners, picnics, and hope to extend that fellowship further. Their church recently came up with the idea of having “surprise pals” between members of each congregation. We want to encourage continuing contacts with their members. They asked to include young people (children and youth), as well as adults, in the program. We are inviting your family to participate in this ministry. This is the last week to sign up. Meant for families to participate or individual ages 8 and up. |
Need Your Videos for the Lord's Prayer
If your child (of any age) can say a particular portion of the Lord's Prayer and Passing of the Peace to be viewed during one of the worship services, we would love for you to record it (horizontally) and send it to us at NancyC@palmaceia.org or text it to Nancy Creedon at 813-767-3635. |
Breeze-Thru Back to School Blessing
Sunday, August 23rd 4:30-6:00 PM PCPC Parking Lot We know this school year will NOT be a breeze, so we invite you to breeze through the church parking lot either arriving on foot, or on wheels to breeze through like the breath of God that sustains us. Pastors will be present to bless on behalf of the whole congregation and we will send you back out into the world with some reminders of God's love. We invite you to enter from Himes Ave and exit through Cardenas. We are collecting school supplies for Beth-El Ministry so you can bring them when you breeze through too. For a list of items click here. Following the Blessing, the Sanctuary is open for families to enter from 6:00-8:00 pm. |

Scripture to Read
from Genesis 45
Then Joseph said to his brothers, ‘Come closer to me.’ And they came closer. He said, ‘I am your brother Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. For the famine has been in the land these two years; and there are five more years in which there will be neither ploughing nor harvest. God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. So it was not you who sent me here, but God; he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt. Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, “Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay. You shall settle in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children, as well as your flocks, your herds, and all that you have. I will provide for you there—since there are five more years of famine to come—so that you and your household, and all that you have, will not come to poverty.” And now your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see that it is my own mouth that speaks to you. You must tell my father how greatly I am honored in Egypt, and all that you have seen. Hurry and bring my father down here.’ Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin’s neck and wept, while Benjamin wept upon his neck. And he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them; and after that his brothers talked with him.
